Summary:
I am Albert Einstein by Brad Meltzer is about a man named, Albert Einstein. The book takes us through
Einstein’s life starting from when he was just a little boy. Growing up he never really fit in and always
seemed to be off in his own world exploring his own ideas. As life continued Albert found that not only
did he love thinking but he loved thinking about how things worked/happened. One day, he came up with
the idea of gravity and the way it worked in our world. Einstein became extremely famous and received
many awards for his new ideas. At the end of the book, the author expresses the importance of never
asking “why” in and outside of the classroom and how curiosity can lead you to so many undiscovered
aspects of life.

I would certainly love to use this book in my classroom! I love how it gives information about Albert
Einstein and what he did as well as the hidden message that it is okay to be different and ask questions.
I feel as if this book is great for children, especially because it teaches them the importance of curiosity and
to never stop asking, “why”?

I feel as if this book would be best for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. It has some
great information about Albert Einstein and the impact he made on our world. It also has a great message
at the end that it is okay to ask questions and the importance of asking questions. In addition, the book has
very easy to read words as well as short sentences which is perfect for elementary school kids.

If I were to use this book in my classroom I would first read the book out loud to my class. I would have
my class draw Albert Einstein and then write their own story about them discovering something they have
always wondered about. Next, I would have them write facts that they learned about Albert Einstein and
write questions that they would want to ask him.
