I would most definitely use this poetry book in my classroom because of all of the labels and rhyming
words in it. This book is very educational due to all of the labels of different birds, plants, and even sounds.
I also love all of the rhyming words and catchiness of the book.

I feel that this poetry book is appropriate for grades pre- k through third grade. Pre-k and kindergarten
students would love this book for all of the pictures and colors throughout it. I also believe that they would
enjoy the rhyming aspect of this book and catch onto it pretty quickly. I feel as if first through third grade
would also enjoy this book for its animations and rhyming as well. I also believe that they would be able to
pick up on the actual story being told and all of the labels throughout the book.

I would use this poetry book in my classroom when doing a unit about either rhyming or maybe even a unit
over plants and nature. I could do a lesson with my students that requires them to discover the rhyming
words and the pattern of the book. As a class we could discuss all of the plants and birds while reading the
book. After, I could also have my class choose their favorite plant or bird from the book and do a little
project over it.

Look for other Lois Ehlert books -- she uses nature everywhere in her illustrations.
